    Brazilian Hair Straightening in Pittsburgh

    November 26th, 2007 · 2 Comments

Have you heard of Brazilian Hair Straightening?

If not, you are missing out on what Elle Magazine calls a new straightening process that is “ready to tame even the worst-behaved manes”

The process is called escova progressiva, which means progressive blowdry in Portuguese.

Here are some FAQ’s about Capristo Salon’s Brazilian Hair Straightening Process.

    What is Brazilian Hair Straightening?
It is a specially formulates revitalizing and rejuvenating treatment for hair that eliminates frizz an curls. The advanced patent pending formulation restores and restructures hair by infusing a special blend of natural keratin deep into the damaged cuticle. Capristo Salon’s keratin treatment bonds into the cuticle by the heat of the flat iron, which relaxes the hair’s sub-cuticle layer.

Do you use Formaldehyde in your solution?
NO! Our keratin treatment is formaldehyde-free.

Can Brazlian Keratin treatment be used on chemically treated hair?
Yes, if doing a color process, make sure you do it before applying the Brazilian keratin treatment or wait at least two weeks after the treatment.

When should I cut my hair?
The best time is actually, during the therapy, right after the flat ironing of you rhair, because it will lay flat and it’s the easiest time to trim or cut your hair.

What results should I expect after the Brazilian Hair Straigtening treatment?
Your hair will be much more manageable. The time to style your hair will be dramatically reduced. You should also notice a soft feel after you shampoo, with added life, shine, and sheen as well as a lengthening look. The keratin treatment also coats the hair to protect it from breaking down again due to pollutants.

When can I wash my hair after the keratin treatment?
Do not shampoo for 48 hours after leaving Capristo Salon. For very wavy hair, please wait 72 hours.

What should I use to wash my hair?
Please use a sulfate free shampoo, or a keratin complex shampoo, which can be purchased at the salon.

How long does the Brazilian Hair Straightening last?
It can last up to 5 months, depending on if this is the initial treatment and the type of hair being used.

How often may I do the Brazilian Keratin treatment?
You may do the treatment once a month, but we reccomend every 3 months, which is what most people do.

    What are the aftercare directions?
Don’t wear a ponytail or tie your hair up. If your hair gets wet, make sure you blow dry or flat iron it back to place. Try not to go swimming in a pool or ocean until after you shampoo, however, if you do, wash with a clear, non-chlorinated water and blow dry or flat iron back into place.

Should I do this treatment if I am pregnant?
The FDA recommends that hair coloring or other scalp treatments should be avoided during pregnancy. We feel the same way.

Can ths Brazilian Hair treatment be done on children?
    Yes, and with outstanding results.

Should I sleep with a scarf around my hair?
Many women actually do this, but it’s not completely necessary. It will aid in the maintenance of your hair the next morning.

How long will the treatment take?
Anywhere from 1.5 hours to 4, all depending on how curly your hair is to begin with.

How much does Capristo Salon charge for Brazilian Hair Straightening treatment?
The treatment is $300, however, if you mention “GOOGLE” when you book an appointment, you can save $50 for a limited time. Please give us a call to set an appointment at (412) 361-8722

Do you have before and after picture?
Yes, we’ve written a great article Brazilian Hair Straightening.
